>>>Taylor 510 Guitar - Lemon Grove, 1979<<<

[SOLD]

This is a Taylor 510 made in 1979 in Taylor's Lemon Grove facility. Serial number is 926. [Refer to "www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/reference/dating.html" for a serial number reference.] It has no cutaway and no electronics. The guitar is clean but has definite signs of use, as you'd expect with a 24-year-old guitar. Some scratching and minor dings, etc. But it has not been abused at all. Of course, the tradeoff for having a less-than-mint guitar is having a Taylor guitar with a body that has had 24 years for the wood to age.

I'm the 3rd owner of this guitar. I recently bought it from the 2nd owner, who had purchased it used in 1992 from a man who had bought it new and then suffered a major hand injury. The original owner had left it in the case for years (under his bed) before he sold it to the second owner.

At the time the 2nd owner purchased this guitar, the neck needed to be reset (because of it being left in the case so long). He called the Taylor factory and spoke to Bob Taylor himself who ended up doing the work. Apparently he likes his older instruments so he offered (at no charge) to put a brand-new neck on. This neck (from 1992) is of the highest Taylor quality. He also changed the bridge by filling in where the saddle was and putting the saddle in another place, making the intonation perfect. Again, this was not only a professional job, but done by Bob Taylor himself.

I have the receipt (dated 11/18/92) from Taylor Guitars saying "we repaired intonation bridge slot (moved back), replaced saddle, reglued braces, waxed body, replaced nut, replaced neck, action adjusted...". This will remain with the guitar.

The hard shell case appears to be the original. It has a broken handle and is slightly scratched. But it's in good condition overall.

My reason for selling => This guitar has a 1-11/16" nut width [neck width at the nut]. I prefer a slightly wider 1-3/4" width to allow my fat fingers a little more room for fingerpicking. [When I bought this guitar I forgot to ask about the nut width.] I'd be open to a trade [up, down, or even] for a 1-3/4" Taylor Grand Auditorium [x14] model.
