This is an Olds Recording trombone from the mid-1960's. It has a fluted slide with a .495"/.510" dual bore. It has an 8" bell. The serial number is 563xxx, indicating a date of manufacture around 1966-67. The bell engraving shows that it was made in Fullerton CA.
This horn is in excellent condition. The handslide is very nice -- smooth and slick. There's no wear on the inner slide tubes. Both inner slide tubes are "fluted" to reduce contact between the inner and outer slide tubes. "Fluted" means multi-sided. Seems to be 12 or 16 flat surfaces, except the stocking.] There's some lacquer wear in the handgrip and neckpipe areas, which is shown in the pictures.
Includes case that's probably not original. It's not the style I remember from 1969, when I bought a new Recording while in High School. [Thanks, Dad!] The case fits the horn well. Includes a key for the case. Also includes an Olds 3 mouthpiece, which you may not use [although it's definitely usable]. But it's there.
